Abu Dhabi, Dubai, 30 January 2019. The Abu Dhabi Quality and Conformity Council (QCC) and Eurovent Middle East have announced the formation of a joint working group to develop Conformity Assessment Schemes for Air Handling Units and Fan Coil Units. The association of the region’s leading HVACR manufacturers will encourage organisation and coordination of industry stakeholders and is calling on interested manufacturers to join the working group.

Following cooperation to develop a draft AHU (Air Handling Units) conformity assessment scheme, both organisations are eager to increase collaboration and establish regular meetings to work on technical specifications for new Conformity Assessment Schemes. These schemes will denote the first regulations for such equipment in the region and should lead to considerable improvements of indoor air quality and energy efficiency, while also formulating basic safety and quality guidelines.

Speaking of the tie-up, Engineer Abdullah Hassan Al Muaini, Executive Director of Conformity Scheme Services at QCC, said: “We are pleased to be joining forces with Eurovent Middle East and making use of the organisation and outreach they provide. This enables us to bring industry representatives to the table and discuss technical specifications. The Council is keen to research and apply quality standards and regulations to the highest international standards, ensuring that manufacturers, suppliers and traders in this sector comply with these standards. Our partnership with the association will help to ensure transparency in the HVAC industry.”

Markus Lattner, Managing Director of Eurovent Middle East, added: “We are happy to provide our expertise and the wide-ranging infrastructure of our association network for this ambitious project. Facilitating stake holding processes is one of our core aims. Our growing membership base as well as the outreach to the whole industry enables us to involve all interested parties in a transparent and fair manner.”

Representing a wide range of manufacturers of such products, including local, Asian, European and American companies, Eurovent Middle East calls upon the industry to make use of its platform and join the discussions. The coordinated approach towards regulatory and standardisation work benefits authorities and the industry alike. It ensures a certain clarity and transparency in the integration of international standards to a framework recognising the requirements of the Middle East.
