Industry Recommendation, webinar on global air filtration standard

Eurovent Middle East emphasises the use of ISO 16890 as reference standard for air filtration in general ventilation

Dubai, 19 May 2021. The Association has published an Industry Recommendation to encourage exclusive use of ISO 16890 as the reference standard for air filtration in general ventilation and will host a dedicated webinar on 09 June 2021 to outline its importance and explain the correct selection process for air filtration products under this classification. Considering the COVID-19 pandemic, adherence to the latest standards in air conditioning and ventilation is a critical factor to improve Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) and safety in buildings.

The World Health Organization (WHO), following comments from Eurovent, Eurovent Middle East and REHVA, has amended its ‘Roadmap to improve and ensure good indoor ventilation in the context of COVID-19’ in a corrigendum released on 13 April 2021 to include ISO 16890 as a reference standard. The filter classifications now are defined based on particulate matter size (PM1, PM2,5, PM10) to provide a better understanding of filtration efficiencies. As a global reference, it replaces older filtration standards such as ASHRAE 52.2 and EN 779, ending confusion over which standards to apply.

In order to introduce ISO 16890 and explain its value and application, Eurovent Middle East, in cooperation with Eurovent and Eurovent Certita Certification will host a dedicated joint webinar on 09 June 2021, addressing the following topics:

  • ISO 16890: The global air filtration standard
  • Eurovent 4/23: Guidance for the selection of ISO 16890 rated air filter classes for general ventilation applications
  • Energy efficiency and filter certification

Presentations will be followed by a panel discussion and a dedicated Q&A session, where participants are invited to discuss any issues related to the topics. Register now and be a part of the ‘ISO 16890 – The Global Air Filtration Standard’ webinar. Join us online on 09 June 2021 from 10:00-11:30h (GST) for an informative exchange with peers and industry leaders. Registration is free-of-charge via this link.
