Systemair experts discuss the publication of the highly popular Eurovent Recommendation 6/18 - 2022: Quality criteria for Air Handling Units, whom it was designed for and why consultants should reference it in future projects.

Guidance from Eurovent Middle East on standards referenced in the publication

On 01 March 2021 the World Health Organization (WHO) published the ‘Roadmap to improve and ensure good ventilation in the context of COVID-19’ with the intention of providing a globally adopted reference in the best interests of public health and creating awareness for good ventilation practices. The first edition of the publication referenced outdated and obsolete standards, therefore Eurovent supported by Eurovent Middle East, submitted official recommendations to the WHO to revise the references. On 13 April 2021, a corrigendum was published by the WHO to withdraw the obsolete references in the publication. Eurovent Middle East recommends exclusive use of ISO 16890 as the global standard for air filter classification.

Eurovent Middle East emphasises the use of ISO 16890 as reference standard for air filtration in general ventilation

The Association has published an Industry Recommendation to encourage exclusive use of ISO 16890 as the reference standard for air filtration in general ventilation and will host a dedicated webinar on 09 June 2021 to outline its importance and explain the correct selection process for air filtration products under this classification. Considering the COVID-19 pandemic, adherence to the latest standards in air conditioning and ventilation is a critical factor to improve Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) and safety in buildings.

Document presents guidelines for improving Indoor Air Quality and reducing energy consumption

The Eurovent Product Group ‘Air Handling Units’ (PG-AHU) has published the first edition of Eurovent Recommendation 6/15 - Air Leakages in Air Handling Units. The Recommendation presents guidelines for improving Indoor Air Quality and correcting the performance of Air Handling Units due to internal leakages.

Recommended action for the specification, purchase, installation, operation and maintenance of air filtration systems in critical healthcare appliances

Eurovent Middle East, as the region´s industry association for Heating, Ventilation, Air-Conditioning and Refrigeration (HVACR) equipment manufacturers, is encouraging healthcare facilities to carefully observe the following recommendations by the industry to reduce the risks related to the spread of airborne viruses through air filtration and ventilation systems and properly instruct all personnel involved in the specification, purchase, installation, operation and maintenance of such systems.

Recommended action for healthcare facilities, facility management providers, building owners and operators

Eurovent Middle East, as the region´s industry association for Heating, Ventilation, Air-Conditioning and Refrigeration (HVACR) equipment manufacturers, is calling on healthcare facilities, building owners, operators and facility management providers to carefully observe the following recommendations by the industry to reduce the risks related to the spread of airborne viruses through ventilation and air-conditioning systems and support the government in its efforts to contain the outbreak.

Eurovent 4/21 (2019) now also considers filters operating at airflow rate other than nominal

The Eurovent Association has released the fourth edition of the widely-applied Eurovent Recommendation 4/21 – ‘Energy Efficiency Evaluation of air filters for general ventilation purposes’. The updated guidelines set out a new method for the determination of the annual energy consumption for filters operating at an airflow rate other than nominal.

The European evaporative cooling industry is ready to face the challenges of 2030

As outcome of the two-year Special Project ‘Evaporative Cooling 2030’, the Eurovent Association has published a set of documents including a new Eurovent Recommendation and a dedicated flyer, providing a clear overview of what the evaporative cooling industry saves in terms of CO2 emissions today and what it can save tomorrow. These documents are complemented by the first-ever European evaporative cooling industry monograph providing a clear indication on its size and scope.

Brussels, 1 October 2018. Following its meeting during the Eurovent Summit in Seville, the Eurovent Product Group ‘Air Filters’ has published an updated version of its popular Recommendation 4/23 – “Selection of EN ISO 16890 rated air filter classes for general ventilation applications”. The 2018 version is aligned with European standardisation developments. It includes a hands-on table, which shows that required filtration efficiencies can be reached by using different filters or different combinations of filters.

Heat recovery ventilation is expected to be a major ventilation solution

REHVA and Eurovent have released their guidebook on heat recovery ventilation. It includes the latest ventilation technology and knowledge about the ventilation system performance, intended to be used by HVAC designers, consultants, contractors, and other practitioners. This first joint guidebook of REHVA and Eurovent is part of an increasing cooperation between the two associations, with more publications and joint initiatives to follow.
