The recent Expert Webinar hosted by the Eurovent Association, presented an overview on the recommendations by the industry to bridge the gap between regulatory requirements of the new Ecodesign and Energy Labelling measures while taking into consideration market conditions and realities in Europe.

Owing to the ongoing COVID-19 outbreak, the organisers of the EUROVENTSUMMIT have announced the postponement of its upcoming edition to 2021. Initially scheduled for September 2020, it will now take place from 12 to 15 October 2021 in Antalya, Turkey.

Last Wednesday, 11 December, the European Commission presented the European Green Deal, an ambitious package of policy measures geared towards making Europe the first climate-neutral continent by 2050. The Commission has just issued the update of Policy Officers for the different Ecodesign and Energy Labelling files. Below, you may find the outline their competences and the present status of the individual Lots.

As outcome of the two-year Special Project ‘Evaporative Cooling 2030’, the Eurovent Association has published a set of documents including a new Eurovent Recommendation and a dedicated flyer, providing a clear overview of what the evaporative cooling industry saves in terms of CO2 emissions today and what it can save tomorrow. These documents are complemented by the first-ever European evaporative cooling industry monograph providing a clear indication on its size and scope.

As announced in GEN – 1059.00, the revised Electric Motors and Variable Speed Drives Regulation has been published on the announced date of 25 October 2019, as Commission Regulation (EU) 2019/1781 of 1 October 2019, laying down Ecodesign requirements for electric motors and variable speed drives pursuant to Directive 2009/125/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council, amending Regulation (EC) No 641/2009 with regard to Ecodesign requirements for glandless standalone circulators and glandless circulators integrated in products and repealing Commission Regulation (EC) No 640/2009.

The European Commission has just released its draft minutes of the Ecodesign and Energy Labelling Consultation Forum (EELCF) meetings held on 9 and 10 September 2019. Together with APPLiA, Eurovent has commented on the review proposal for air conditioning and comfort fans. A comment on the proposal to bring different technologies under one label for local space heaters is under development.

On 10 October 2019 the Commission DG GROW issue the tender to prepare for the fourth Working Plan. Formally it is the first Working Plan that combines Ecodesign and Energy Labelling. It is the intention to select the consultant/consortium relatively quick. Nine n months are given to carry out the study, so that before the end of 2020 the Working Plan will be available.
