Interview with Henrietta Trippett

Henrietta Trippett, Climate Attaché British Embassy Riyadh, speaks to Eurovent Middle East on the role that sustainable cooling technologies play in meeting COP26 targets and provides an update on the programmes and multi-sectoral collaborations within Saudi Arabia aimed at driving more energy-efficient standards and practices…

Owing to COVID-19, Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) is now a hot topic all around the industry. The discussion, however, seems to be stagnating. Markus Lattner, Managing Director of Eurovent Middle East shares his opinion on this matter.

Experts speak to Eurovent Middle East and provide a broad overview on the differences between belt-driven and direct-driven fans, factors that propel demand in the region, and the need for greater awareness and education in order to move the needle towards adoption of more efficient technologies in the market.

Event in spirit of World Refrigeration Day to highlight importance of young talent

As part of the World Refrigeration Day campaign, Eurovent Middle East is hosting a webinar dedicated to human resources in the HVACR industry. The webinar is organised in cooperation with Careersbay.com and Climate Control Middle East and will be hosted in a live panel discussion format. It will take place on Thursday, 24 June 2021 from 11:00-12:30h (GST) and will feature experts from the HVACR industry and recruitment sectors.

Eurovent Middle East emphasises the use of ISO 16890 as reference standard for air filtration in general ventilation

The Association has published an Industry Recommendation to encourage exclusive use of ISO 16890 as the reference standard for air filtration in general ventilation and will host a dedicated webinar on 09 June 2021 to outline its importance and explain the correct selection process for air filtration products under this classification. Considering the COVID-19 pandemic, adherence to the latest standards in air conditioning and ventilation is a critical factor to improve Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) and safety in buildings.

Guidance from Eurovent Middle East on standards referenced in the publication

On 01 March 2021 the World Health Organization (WHO) published the ‘Roadmap to improve and ensure good ventilation in the context of COVID-19’ with the intention of providing a globally adopted reference in the best interests of public health and creating awareness for good ventilation practices. The first edition of the publication referenced outdated and obsolete standards, therefore Eurovent supported by Eurovent Middle East, submitted official recommendations to the WHO to revise the references. On 13 April 2021, a corrigendum was published by the WHO to withdraw the obsolete references in the publication. Eurovent Middle East recommends exclusive use of ISO 16890 as the global standard for air filter classification.

Association underlines its commitment to sustainable cooling

Dubai, 20 April 2021. Eurovent Middle East, the region’s HVACR industry association, has become a member of the Cool Coalition, a global initiative led by UN Environment and the Kigali Cooling Efficiency Programme. The initiative promotes a holistic and cross-sectoral approach to meet the cooling needs of both industrialised and developing countries through better building design, energy efficiency, renewables, and thermal storage as well as phasing down refrigerants with a high global warming potential.

New video on Eurovent Middle East YouTube channel

Are mandatory building inspections key to unlock the energy saving potential in the Middle East? Eurovent Middle East thinks about the socio-economic benefits regular inspections of HVACR installations would provide to a country, its people and the industry.

Ok, what’s next?

Eurovent Middle East has entered into its 5th year of existence amid an ongoing global pandemic. The lack of physical meetings, events, exhibitions, conferences and seminars, has taught us to make more use of digital platforms and to conduct online meetings at home while the kids redecorate the kitchen, dogs reshape the sofa, and with the cat tanning on our keyboard.
