Dubai, 1 November 2017. Close to 100 people have attended Eurovent Middle East’s second ‘HVACR Leadership Workshop’ at the Le Meridien Dubai Airport hotel, which put a focus on Commercial Refrigeration. Together with the participants, leading experts from the UAE and Europe have elaborated on how to achieve a higher food safety and cost savings through state-of-the-art refrigeration technologies.

Following Eurovent’s core principle of providing high quality knowledge to the region while facilitating an exchange of information across regions, participants have discussed best practices from the Middle East and Europe. Key discussion topics included, amongst others:

  • How to calculate the thermal performances and energy consumption of refrigerated display cabinets for supermarkets according to ISO standards
  • How to verify that whether manufacturers’ performance values are in line with reality
  • Assessing the performances of condensers and how to select one in line with Dubai conditions
  • New reliable and market-ready CO2 solutions for warm climates
  • How to save energy and ensure the food safety by adding air curtains to cold room systems

The event was moderated by Mr Francesco Scuderi, Deputy Secretary General of the Eurovent Association and one of Europe’s leading commercial refrigeration experts. Scuderi expressed after the event: ‘Today’s workshop exceeded all expectations and we are happy to see a high demand for a specialised area such as commercial refrigeration. With our ‘HVACR Leadership Workshop’, we not only provided participants with the best possible knowledge in a neutral, non-commercial manner, but also highlighted Eurovent’s expertise in the refrigeration sector. While the Middle East tends to largely relate Eurovent to ventilation and air conditioning, we are actually also the largest refrigeration-related sector association in Europe, counting several hundred Affiliated Manufacturers as members.’

Scuderi went on stating that ‘commercial refrigeration is highly important for the GCC region as it puts an increasing focus on saving energy while ensuring the food safety in the best possible and healthy manner. The workshop discussions showed that there is a lot of unused potential in the UAE with standards not in line with the best available technologies and approaches. Furthermore, as seen during the workshop discussions on the Kigali Agreement, a lot of unjustified myths seem to exist concerning refrigerants, which deserve to be clarified in a wider framework.’

The next Eurovent Middle East ‘HVACR Leadership Workshop’ is organised in partnership with the organisers of the Big 5 Dubai. It will focus on Evaporative Cooling Equipment (Cooling Towers) and takes place on 28 November 2018 as of 2PM within the parallel programme of the exhibition. Everyone interested should sign up for the Eurovent Middle East ‘MEssage’ newsletter on www.eurovent.me to receive additional information.
