Letter to the industry: Thank you!

In this editorial, Tariq Al Ghussein, President of Eurovent Middle East, reflects on Eurovent Middle East's 5-year anniversary congress and gives his thanks to partners that made it possible.

Eurovent Middle East's 5-year anniversary congress, "HVACR2030: Rethinking Policies and Strategies", was a major milestone for the association's work and the industry at large. We were humbled by the great interest of many key industry and government representatives. More than 350 attendees joined us for a day full of interesting perspectives on energy efficiency, sustainability, market surveillance and retrofitting. On behalf of Eurovent Middle East and our members, I would like to thank you!

First and foremost, thank you to our partners who supported this event. We are grateful to the United Nations Environment Programme and Eng. Khaled Klaly for the wonderful cooperation, his impressive presentation and for making our congress part of a UNEP series of meetings in Dubai, UAE. Thank you to the Abu Dhabi Department of Energy, the Abu Dhabi Quality and Conformity Council and the Ras Al Khaimah Municipality for their contribution and support. We would also like to commend our knowledge partners, Eurovent Certita Certification and UL Solutions, for their essential input on market surveillance and our media partner Climate Control Middle East, for their long-standing coverage of our activities.

The signing of the MoU between Eurovent and the Gulf Standardization Organisation (GSO) is a wonderful accomplishment based on years of fruitful exchange. We express our sincerest gratitude to H.E. Mr Saud Al-Khusaibi, President of the GSO, for opening our event with a thoughtful and encouraging speech. Eurovent Middle East is looking forward to putting this MoU to work and strengthening our joint efforts for harmonisation in the region.

It is a rare occasion that an event like this gathers such overwhelming feedback and leaves everyone pleased. We have heard multiple times that it has been the best industry event in the region thus far. Needless to say, this is extremely flattering and is a great encouragement for the years to come,  not because we want to become an event organiser but because it helps empower the HVACR industry to identify topics and discuss issues relevant to the market. It also highlights the value of having an adequate framework to deliver the message.

The non-commercial approach of Eurovent Middle East and our ability to work together for our mutual interests and the region's benefit have enabled us to provide a unique environment for presenters and audiences alike. We want and need to build on this. We hope that many more organisations have noted the positive impact of working together within our framework and will be motivated to join our efforts.

I conclude with a final, and perhaps the biggest "Thank You!" to our Team, all of whom have set an impressive benchmark in delivering a high-level event with outstanding dedication and perseverance. Congratulations to Markus, Maja, Mickel, Andrea, and Hannah for this great achievement!

Best regards,

Tariq Al Ghussein
