Dr. A. Nour Eddine, Air Conditioner Programme Manager, Eurovent Certita Certification

Considerable technology advancement in comfort air conditioners designs over the past few decades have seen a substantial development in the variable speed compressor operation (inverter air conditioner). Most of the current international standards allow the intervention when testing these units to provide the setting parameters, while some still forbid it to prevent manufacturer interference.

5 Year Anniversary

In January 2017, representatives of 22 HVACR manufacturers established Eurovent Middle East as the region’s first industry association for heating, ventilation, air-conditioning and refrigeration. What started as an initiative to enable more coordination among industry stakeholders has become a real driver for knowledge transfer in energy efficiency and indoor air quality. The occasion calls for an outlook to the next five years at our upcoming event in September.

The first RAK Energy Summit will take place at the Al Hamra International Exhibition and Conference Center in Ras Al Khaimah on 04-05 October 2022

The event features international and regional experts and leaders from the government and private sector to discuss emerging trends and initiatives in the field of sustainable energy.

Creating common grounds in the chaos of competition

On Eurovent Middle East’s 5th anniversary, Markus Lattner, Managing Director, fleshes out the long-term impact of an industry association and reflects on the Association’s early days, the challenges of fostering a spirit of cooperation, and the need to challenge the status quo in the region for the good of the industry.

Interview with Technical Regulations Head of GSO

Eng. Abdesselam Benyaich, Technical Regulations Head, GCC Standardization Organization (GSO), speaks to Eurovent Middle East and provides a comprehensive overview of the regulatory landscape in the region, the need to build bridges through international partnerships, and opportunities for unification to ensure the safety of consumers and sustainability of the member states.

Interview with the President of Eurovent Certita Certification

Sylvain Courtey, President of Eurovent Certita Certification, outlines the function of certification, how they differ from other schemes in the HVACR market and the organisation’s move to become more inclusive in accommodating conditions in warmer climates.

Tariq Al Ghussein re-elected as President

During its Annual Meeting on 22 March 2022, members of the Association of the Region’s Leading HVACR manufacturers re-elected Mr Tariq Al Ghussein (CEO, Taqeef), as President, supported by Mr Rafael Van Eijcken (General Manager, Baltimore Aircoil) as Vice-President. Eurovent Middle East showed strong resilience during the pandemic years, which also manifested in the attendance of 40 representatives from its members, the highest number yet for an Annual Meeting.

Association extends invite to a physical workshop on evaporative cooling

As part of its core responsibilities, Eurovent Middle East aims to share information on available technology with the region’s market participants. The launch of a dedicated Cooling Tower Guidebook is the latest step in creating awareness and providing a comprehensive overview on a highly energy efficient cooling technology. The association also extends invitation to a physical workshop on evaporative cooling in Dubai.

Asim Ansari of Airedale International Air Conditioning writes for Eurovent Middle East on the urgent need for more sustainable data centre cooling practices, how to optimise performance in the GCC region, and opportunities for free cooling in high-ambient conditions.

Making slow but steady progress

The year began with us feeling like we’re still at the height of the pandemic. Physically detached, with a significant number of us still working remotely through digital platforms. Vaccination drives are now well underway, and these efforts are certainly not in vain, as we see physical and hybrid meetings, events and conferences slowly resuming in the region with stringent safety protocols and social distancing measures in place.
